Kazuyoshi Miura has scored his first competitive goal in nearly four years, netting for Fukushima United at the age of 59. His 52nd-minute goal came during Fukushima's 7-0 Emperor's Cup win over Iwaki Furukawa.

The strike adds another remarkable entry to a career that began with Santos in Brazil in 1986 and has since taken Miura across Japan and several overseas leagues. His previous competitive goal was in November 2022 for Suzuka PG, now Atletico Suzuka, against FC Osaka.

Known in Japan as “King Kazu”, Miura remains closely tied to the early identity of the J League, which launched in 1993. He also had a major international career, scoring 55 goals in 89 appearances for Japan.

Miura is currently on loan at Fukushima from Yokohama FC, with that arrangement extended until June 2027. If he continues as planned, his professional playing career will move into a 42nd season, raising fresh discussion about longevity, symbolism and sporting merit in modern football.
